Trauma recovery can be beautiful, and it can also be incredibly painful and challenging. It can be helpful to experiment with different resources to see which ones are most supportive for you. I only recommend resources that I trust because I have used them and found them helpful or have heard from clients that they are valuable.

For Complex Trauma
Pete Walker is a therapist in the Bay Area specializing in complex trauma. I have found his book Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving helpful both in my own healing and as a resource for clients. I especially appreciate his 13 Steps for Managing Emotional Flashbacks in the moment of intense emotional experiences.
Nervous System Education
Irene Lyon is a nervous system expert, trained in Somatic Experiencing, Feldenkrais, Somatic Practice, and other body-based trauma healing modalities. She offers free educational videos and articles, drop-in lessons, and paid courses.
